Young Shop Owner Named State's Entrepreneur of the Year

Sept. 30, 2020

The Small Business Administration has named a young shop owner the Rhode Island Entrepreneur of the Year.

Sept. 30, 2020—A shop owner from Tiverton, R.I., has been named the state's Entrepreneur of the Year by the Small Business Administration, reports The Newport Daily News.

According to the report, Kaitlyn Szczupak, owner of S&S Transmissions and Auto Repair, recently won the honor at the age of just 24.

Szczupak grew up in the business and soon after high school, she told her parents she wanted to take over the business someday.

In February 2016, Szczupak's father unexpectedly passed away and at the age of just 20, she filled out the necessary paperwork to become the shop's new owner, all while going to school for business management with a focus on small business.

In 2019, she expanded the business, moving locations that allowed her to acquire new customers in five different surround locations.

Like the report says, at 24 years old, she owns and operates her own successful business truly embodying the saying that age is just a number.
