Dec. 2, 2020—The Automotive Service Association (ASA), is urging its members to contact their representatives in support of a new COVID-19 economic relief stimulus bill, according to a press release.

Negotiations of the new bill, which includes legislation to reactivate and expand the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), began on Monday. As a part of the bill, a second round of direct individual payments of $1200 is also being considered.

If passed, the new stimulus package could provide aid for individuals and businesses struggling due to the effects of COVID-19, distributing low-interest and forgivable loans to small businesses such as auto repair shops.

The association is encouraging Congress to move on the bill before Congress adjourns later this month and has created a letter template members can use to contact their representatives. Many ASA members participated in the first round of PPP and hundreds of ASA advocates have already sent letters to their members of Congress.
