Community members have banded together to help a maintenance worker for Vernon Auto Group that was recently diagnosed with bladder cancer.

Jan. 26, 2021—Community members in Vernon, Texas, are raising money for “Uncle Dave,” a beloved maintenance worker for Vernon Auto Group that was recently diagnosed with bladder cancer, KFDX reports

David Schulz, affectionately known as Uncle Dave, is a national guard veteran and has worked at Vernon Auto Group since 1997.

“We all love him up here. He’s our guy that we go to anytime we need something fixed or if we just wanna laugh, we go to Uncle Dave. He had to retire and we just felt like this was something to do for him to help him out because we love Uncle Dave,” Vernon Auto Group service advisor Tikiesa Townsend told KFDX.

Vernon Auto has begun selling barbecue to raise funds for Schulz. There is also a GoFundMe page.
