Hyundai Opens Children’s Cancer Institute and Provides $10M Grant

July 22, 2013

July 22, 2013—Through its nonprofit organization Hyundai Hope On Wheels, Hyundai Motor America and its U.S. dealer council will celebrate the grand opening of the Hyundai Cancer Institute in Orange, Calif., on Tuesday, and present the Children’s Hospital of Orange County with the third $2 million installment of a $10 million research grant.

The funds are being used for pediatric cancer research, which will take place at the Hyundai Cancer Institute, using the latest advances in genomic medicine to provide more effective, individualized treatment for children afflicted with this disease.

Hyundai will also present CHOC Children's with two new 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport vehicles.

The Hyundai Cancer Institute at CHOC Children's was founded three years ago and is led by Dr. Leonard Sender to research and develop individualized treatment for children with cancer using the latest advances in genomic medicine.

The $10 million grant is the largest corporate gift in CHOC Children’s history.
