Data Shows Global Vehicle Shortage of 2.2M

A report from AutoForecast Solutions suggests that there could be an additional shortage of 810,461 vehicles globally by the end of the year. 


June 15, 2022—There are many factors at play that are causing an inability to accessing new vehicles, but the microchip shortage proves to be an especially impactful one.

According to Power Nation TV, industry reports have shared an estimation that automakers are around 2.2 million vehicles behind schedule due to the shortage.

A report from AutoForecast Solutions stated that this figure is a ten percent increase from last year.

This is a global issue. The report data includes 780,000 vehicles missing from dealerships in North America, 794,100 in Europe, 107,300 cars lost from Chinese brands, 437,900 from Asian automakers, 98,200 from South American cars and 12,000 unproduced cars in Africa and the Middle East.

The AutoForecast Solutions report predicts that there could be an additional loss of 810,461 vehicles globally by the end of 2022.
