Aug. 15, 2022

Audi, Ferrari, Ford, Jeep, Kia, Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz, Subaru, and Volkswagen all have recalls that were announced between Aug. 4 and Aug. 11.

Aug. 15, 2022—The Detroit Free Press has reported on several major vehicle recalls from information available through the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

According to the article, multiple automakers have announced recalls recently, including Audi, Ferrari, Ford, Jeep, Kia, Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz, Subaru, and Volkswagen.

The recalls range in the amount of vehicles impacted as well as the issues of origin, but here are some takeaways from the announcements:

  • Chrysler is recalling some 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2021-2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L vehicles due to tail light side marker assemblies that could be damaged. This damage would  do not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard regulations. The recall impacts 99,186 vehicles.
  • Kia is recalling certain 2012-2013 Optima models. Headliner plates on either side of the vehicle may be improperly secured, and could detach upon airbag deployment. This recall affects 257,998 vehicles.
  • Subaru is recalling some 2015-2021 WRX vehicles due to a backup light switch that could corrode and become inoperative. This recall affects 59,934 vehicles.
  • Volkswagen is recalling 1,216 vehicles including the 2016 Audi TT Roadster, TT Coupe, S3 Sedan, R8 Coupe, A3 Sedan, A3 Etron, A3 Cabriolet, 2016 Golf Sportwagen, Golf R, Golf GTI, Golf A7, and E Golf. This is due to potentially improper passenger air bag deployment. Additionally, Volkswagen is recalling 2,238 units of some certain 2022 Golf R A8 and Golf GTI vehicles due to sensitive sunroof touch switches that do not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard regulations.
