Sept. 2, 2022—Ford has announced a recall of 198,482 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator SUVs model years 2015-2017 for a defect in the blower motor behind the glovebox, reported Car and Driver.
Vehicles under this recall can experience noise, smoke, or risk of fire, with 25 reports of vehicles catching fire, all while running. According to reports, owners have observed "an inoperative fan, burning smell and/or smoke from the instrument panel vents while the vehicle is on" as symptoms of the problem.
Ford intends to notify owners of these vehicles on September 12 and will encourage them to visit Ford dealers to have the front blower motor assembly replaced.
