Oct. 25, 2022—Autolite has announced a sponsorship of TechForce Foundation Grants and Scholarships, according to a press release.
“TechForce Foundation is honored to welcome Autolite as a new partner,” said TechForce CEO Jennifer Maher via the press release. “As a national nonprofit that champions technical careers so communities thrive, this support is critical to fulfilling our mission.”
TechForce Foundation's Life Happens Emergency Grants give financial assistance to technician students that have had disruptions to their education due to an emergency. This resource aims to keep technicians in school despite roadblocks, and helps to serve underrepresented groups while simultaneously combatting the industry-wide labor shortage.
“Technicians are the lifeblood of the automotive service industry, not to mention some of our most important advocates in the automotive aftermarket,” said Carl Weber, senior marketing director, First Brands Group via the press release. “We are honored to be able to contribute to keeping tech students on the path toward graduation and a fruitful career.”
According to the press release, 53% of these scholarships and grants were given to people of color. Additional areas of focus included supporting women and veterans transitioning to jobs at home. Recipients have an 88.7% retention rate compared to the national average of 66.2%, according to the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center.
