Tire Companies Announce Recall

Aug. 13, 2015

Aug. 13, 2015—The Discount Tire and America’s Tire Chains announced on Tuesday the recall of nearly 80,000 light truck and SUV tires due to treads separating, according to a report by USA Today.

Those affected in the recall include certain Pathfinder tires made between August 2013 and May 2015. Tires sold after May 19 are not included in the recall.

Discount Tire noticed premature separations on Pathfinder tires in February and began testing them. The company found that the rubber coating between the two steel belts in the tire wasn’t thick enough, according to USA Today.

There have been no reports of death or injuries due to the defect.
