TIA Announces OTR Conference Speaker

Nov. 26, 2013

Nov. 26, 2013—The Tire Industry Association (TIA) has announced Monday that Jim Morris, whose life story inspired the Walt Disney film, “The Rookie,” will be the motivational speaker at the 2014 OTR Conference.

The event will take place Feb. 19–22 at the Marco Island Marriott Resort & Golf Club in Marco Island, Fla.

Morris's motivational address will take place on Feb. 21 and is sponsored by BKT.

To motivate his high school baseball team, Morris, as a 35-year-old schoolteacher, made a bet that he would try out for the Major Leagues if his team won a district championship. When his team won, he went to a tryout where he threw 12 consecutive pitches at 98 mph. Three months later, Jim achieved his dream of pitching in the big leagues.

"We are excited to hear Jim's inspirational story and what he has accomplished. Although his story takes place on a baseball diamond, we can all relate to fulfilling goals and dreams in our businesses and our lives. OTR conference attendees are in for a real treat," said TIA executive vice president Roy Littlefield.

Registration forms can be found at www.tireindustry.org.
