Majority of Auto Dealers to Invest in Service Department in 2015

Dec. 26, 2014

Dec. 26, 2014—While profitability is seen as a challenge for automotive dealerships over the next six months, at least 76 percent of dealers said they expect service department sales to increase, according to a recent survey of the industry by BlumShapiro and Baker Tilly International, an independent accounting and business advisory firm.

Of the 245 dealerships that participated, 78 percent said they plan to invest in their service department over the next 12 months.

Rick Parmelee, a BlumShapiro partner who specializes in automotive dealerships, said the survey shows a continuing trend of consumer confidence in the dealership over the past few years.
