Dec. 31, 2015—On Wednesday, Federal Court Judge Jesse Furman denied a large part of General Motors' (GM) Motion for Summary Judgement in the litigation against the company for its faulty ignition switches. Judge Furman ruled that there was enough evidence against GM to put the case before a jury.
"Today's ruling paves the way for the jury to have an unfettered and full view of GM's behavior in covering up this defect. This gross negligence evidence will now be shown under the bright lights of a court of law and there can be little doubt to the true damning nature of the truth of what GM did,” said Bob Hillard, the Texas-based attorney appointed to lead the litigation against GM.
