Federal-Mogul Releases New OE-style Bushing

Nov. 27, 2013

Nov. 27, 2013—Federal-Mogul announced on Tuesday that it has released the MOOG Problem Solver control arm bushings, featuring a patent-pending ball-and-socket design that eliminates stress-induced failures encountered in original equipment-style parts.

The new MOOG bushings, which last up to 10 times longer than OE-style bushings, are available for millions of foreign-nameplate and domestic passenger vehicles.

Traditional OE-style arm bushings are made from a hard rubber compound that eventually separates from the housing or sleeve after being repeatedly stressed by expansion and compression under load. This causes unwanted noise and a loss in steering and handling precision.

The new MOOG Problem Solver’s ball-and-socket design eliminates those stress-induced failures as well as allows for easier installation. The new bushings are also permanently lubricated and sealed with premium MOOG boots to prevent contamination.

“The MOOG Problem Solver ball-and-socket design provides smooth rotational movement for dramatically improved steering feel while eliminating material stress that causes premature failure of conventional parts used in these applications,” said Mark Boyle, director of steering and suspension of North America for Federal-Mogul. “This innovative technology is another example of the MOOG brand’s unique ability to deliver parts that last longer, perform better and are easier to install in the service bay.”
