FCA Invests $12.2 Million in Mopar Distribution Center

May 23, 2016

May 23, 2016—Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) announced Thursday that it has invested $12.2 million into a new Mopar parts distribution center in Winchester, Va.

The more than 400,000-square-foot distribution center will be Mopar’s 22nd North American facility. It is scheduled to open in late 2016 and will create more than 70 jobs in two shifts.

The distribution center will handle more than 50,000 part numbers and ship to more than 200 FCA U.S. dealerships around the mid-atlantic region. FCA estimates the facility will ship more than 9.2 million parts annually.

The distribution center will also be Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). Administered by the United States Green Building Council, Leed is a system to define, measure and validate green buildings based on standards for five areas: site planning, water management, energy, material use and indoor environmental quality.

The facility will implement FCA’s World Class Logistics methodology increasing efficiency of the distribution center.

"The opening of the Virginia PDC will significantly increase our dealer network strength in this important and growing market, improving customer service by delivering faster and more efficiently parts and accessories to dealerships," said Pietro Gorlier, head of parts and service (Mopar), FCA – Global. "This helps us to achieve our mission at Mopar of supporting our customers with the products they need to promptly maintain, repair or personalize their vehicles."
