NIADA Dealers Voices are Heard

Nov. 10, 2015

Nov. 10, 2015—The National Independent Automobile Dealers Association (NIADA) played a hand in the success of the Williams Amendment, which clarifies a provision in the Senate version of the bill that prohibits car companies from renting and selling vehicles subject to a safety recall.

On the morning of the Nov. 3 vote, NIADA issued a call to its more than 15,000 member dealers, urging them to contact their congressional representatives in support of the Williams Amendment. The dealers responded to the call for action.

The House’s highway bill, including the Williams provision, passed on Thursday by a 363–64 margin. The bill will now move to a conference committee to reconcile it with the Senate version. NIADA and its dealers are prepared to continue to fight for the provision.
