Six Indiana Shops Unite to Repair Cars for Families in Need

Nov. 27, 2013

Nov. 27, 2013—Six automotive repair shops in Anderson, Ind., have joined together to provide six deserving families with a free vehicle repair.

According to a report in The Herald Bulletin of Anderson, Dave’s Auto Service, Weeks Automotive, Etherington’s Automotive, Almack’s All-Care Automotive, Olive’s Automotive and Nick & B’s Auto Service are taking nominations from the community to identify the vehicles to repair. The shops are accepting nominations through Dec. 1, and will announce a winner for each shop on Dec. 2.

“This is for anybody who is in dire need of car repairs,” Connie Lines, owner of Dave’s Auto Service, told The Herald Bulletin. “You can nominate someone or nominate yourself.”

All six businesses have committed to providing free labor for the needed repairs and the NAPA Auto Parts store in Anderson, Ind., is providing more than $500 in automotive parts.

At 2 p.m. on Dec. 14, the repaired vehicles will be presented to the owners during a local Winter Wonderland celebration. The event is open to the public.

“We want to give back to the community,” Lines said, according to the report. “In this town, and in this day and age, we have been very fortunate with our businesses and we want to do something for the community.”

Although this is the first year of the event, the companies hope to make it a tradition.

“I have some nominations in my box that people have put in for someone at their church or a single mom who has been having a tough time,” said Mike Almack, president of Almack’s All-Care Automotive. “People are really struggling out there and I wish we could help more people, but maybe we can next year.”
