May 7, 2013—The Alliance of Automotive Service Providers of Minnesota (AASP-MN) has awarded $17,000 in scholarships to help post-secondary automotive students pay tuition expenses during the 2013-2014 school year.
AASP-MN said money for the scholarships, worth $1,000 each, was raised through a successful fundraising drive by its membership and a large donation from the Minnesota State I-CAR Committee.
Twenty-nine students from 12 automotive schools throughout Minnesota applied for the scholarships. Scholarship winners were chosen based on scholastic achievement, education goals, career goals, financial needs and written recommendations.
The scholarships were awarded to the following 17 students, who are each entering their second year of a NATEF-certified automotive program based in Minnesota:
– DeAndre Adams of Hennepin Technical College in Brooklyn Park, Minn.
– Cole Anderson of Ridgewater College in Willmar, Minn.
– Eric Beranek of South Central College in North Mankato, Minn.
– Kayla Berg of Minnesota State College Southeast Technical in Winona, Minn.
– Jorey Brazell of Minnesota State Community & Technical College in Detroit Lakes, Minn.
– Charles Brunschon of Century College in White Bear Lake, Minn.
– Zachary Gamradt of St. Cloud Technical & Community College in St. Cloud, Minn.
– Justin Hiltwein of Minnesota State Community & Technical College in Moorhead, Minn.
– Nicholas Lindemer of Century College in White Bear Lake, Minn.
– Tanner Maus of St. Cloud Technical & Community College in St. Cloud, Minn.
– Faron McCleary of Minnesota State Community & Technical College in Detroit Lakes, Minn.
– Zach Reisner of Hennepin Technical College in Brooklyn Park, Minn.
– Benjamin Shiek of Dunwoody College of Technology in Minneapolis.
– Jacob Sik of Hennepin Technical College in Eden Prairie, Minn.
– Brian Smith of St. Cloud Technical & Community College in St. Cloud, Minn.
– Ryan Stenzel of Ridgewater College in Willmar, Minn.
– Bryant Zahradnik of Dakota County Technical College in Rosemount, Minn.
AASP-MN said the scholarships were awarded through its Automotive Education Fund, which was established to provide financial resources to support automotive students, enhance automotive programs and raise awareness of career opportunities within the independent automotive service industry.
