Driverless Shuttle Launches in Mich.

A driverless shuttle is now up and running at the University of Michigan.  Mcity launched the free service Monday morning.

June 5, 2018—A driverless shuttle is now up and running at the University of Michigan, reported WEMU.

The shuttle started its free service Monday morning. The vehicle goes about 12 mph. 

The University is using to two shuttles that run Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., according to the report. The shuttles are equipped with lidar, which uses invisible laser beams to build a view of the surrounding environment and GPS for localization. 

A safety conductor is on board in case of an emergency.
