Hankook Polls American Drivers on Future of Automotive Technology

Oct. 9, 2013

Oct. 9, 2013—Hankook Tire released the Fall Hankook Tire Gauge Index on Tuesday, a quarterly survey of American consumers regarding their attitudes and opinions about a variety of automotive-related topics.

Out of the 998 Americans that were polled, more than half believe all cars will be electric or hybrid (56 percent) in the next 20 years, and will be able to communicate with other cars on the road (54 percent) and completely drive themselves (52 percent).

Seventy-five percent of Americans polled believed completely airless tires, a concept Hankook has been exploring, will be available by 2033.

Up 8 percent from last year’s Thanksgiving holiday travel data, 28 percent of Americans said they will hit the road for the Thanksgiving holiday, traveling an average of 1,117 miles.
