Aug. 23, 2018—According to a new Ernst & Young study, Suzuki has become the most profitable automaker in the world.

The findings are largely based on the financial results of the most recent quarter. If the financial figures of the first two quarters of 2018 were combined, it should be noted, BMW remained the most profitable automaker. Yet, an Ernst & Young consultant noted that BMW has struggled a bit lately, due to factors like the brewing trade war between the U.S. and Canada, as noted in a jalopnik.com article.

Now the question remains: will Suzuki try to re-establish a market in the U.S., which it abandoned in 2012? The company has been in business since 1909, but American Suzuki Motor Corporation filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy earlier this decade, as noted by Popular Mechanics.
