October 11, 2018 — A Sunday night fire that broke out at A&H Auto Repair in Manhattan, KS. has been ruled as arson by the Riley County Police Department, The Mercury reports. RCPD spokeswoman Hali Rowland told The Mercury that officers are investigating a known suspect.
The Mercury reports that the shop suffered $10,000 dollars in damage to the facility.
Angie Velazquez, a representative from A&H, said most of the losses came from smoke damage.
“Right now we’re cleaning and then trying to figure [the situation] out,” Velazquez said to The Mercury. “But everything’s good, the business is good.”
According to The Mercury, firefighters contained the blaze within 10 minutes at around 8:55 p.m. on Sunday. The fire was reportedly put out around 10:30 p.m., and no occupants were in the building during the fire.
The owners of A&H Auto Repair are listed as Hugo Dejesus and Andrea Dejesus-Britt, both of Manhattan.
