Fiat Chrysler is recalling more than 410,000 Ram pickup trucks due to the risk that the tailgate could unexpectedly unlatch.

May 20, 2019—Fiat Chrysler is recalling 410,351 of its Ram pickup trucks in the U.S. to upgrade the tailgate locking mechanisms due to the risk the tailgate itself could unexpectedly unlatch, reported Michigan Live.

FCA says an internal investigation revealed that the power locking mechanisms in 2015-2018 Ram 1500, 2500, 3500 pickup trucks feature an internal component that could break over time. FCA is not aware of any incidents or injuries related to this recall at this time.

Specifically, FCA is recalling 2015-2017 models equipped with the 8-foot truck bed and power-locking tailgate.

FCA reports that an additional 63,753 of the affected Ram 1500, 2500 and 2500 trucks are recalled in Canada, 4,020 in Mexico and another 6,985 outside of North America, according to the report.
