Repair Shops Share Tips for Remaining Open

Bill's Service Center and Lewis Automotive were featured in their local news on how they are helping their community during the coronavirus pandemic.

April 22, 2020—Two auto repair shops were featured in their local news, the Daily Local News, discussing how the family businesses remain open through the decline of small business traffic from the coronavirus pandemic.

The state of Pennsylvania is under a stay-at-home order now until May 8, according to Gov. Tom Wolf's official website, after being extended from April 30. To support small businesses, the Daily Local News chose to feature the two auto repair businesses and tell their story.

Bill's Service Center in Toughkenamon, Pa., discussed maintaining its normal business hours during the stay-at-home orders and how it's affected business overall.

“We are taking all precautions to make sure our employees and customers are safe including sanitizing after every job. We just wanna say to everyone, be safe, stay clean and this shall pass very soon and business will come back to normal before we know it,” owner William Losito Jr. said in the article.

Lewis Automotive in West Chester, Pa., was also featured in the article and discussed the steps they are taking to keep business moving. On top of practicing social distancing, employees wear gloves and masks and sanitize inside the vehicles. The shop is also disinfected every day.

To keep business moving, the shop sent out Pennsylvania State inspection reminder cards to its customers who are due that month. To their surprise, they found out most of their customers didn’t know they were even open, according to the article. Administrative staff, including owner Glenn Lewis’ wife, Donna, and service manager Pat Rooney, have then followed up with phone calls to customers to set up appointments as needed. The business is also offering pickup and drop off service as well during the ongoing crisis.
