On Wednesday night, the U.S. Senate passed the House version of new Paycheck Protection Program legislation, thus lengthening the time for loan recipients to spend the funds and still qualify for forgiveness of the loans.
The Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act governs more than $1 billion in grants to states. President Donald Trump could sign a bill that revamps the law any day now.
The amendment requires that the DOT convene a federal advisory committee to provide recommendations to Congress “with respect to the ownership of, control of, or access to, information or data that vehicles collect, generate, record, or store in an electronic form that is retrieved from a highly automated vehicle or automated driving system.”
In consultation with the NHTSA and the FTC, the aftermarket committee will produce a comprehensive report on vehicle data, intellectual property protections, customer privacy, cybersecurity, and vehicle safety within two years.
