Georgia Senator Jon Ossoff recently announced that the Automotive Training Center (ATC) of Atlanta will receive federal funding to expand its training capabilities.

$250,000 in funds will be distributed to ATC as part of this year’s bipartisan government funding package, according to a press release from Senator Ossoff. ATC plans to use the funds to purchase new equipment for a larger training facility that was recently acquired, which will include emissions and diesel repair training.

Since first launching in 2014, ATC has trained over 200 low-income, at-risk youth and young adults between ages 15 and 25, with nearly 80% of its graduates remaining employed to this day. The federal funds will allow ATC to expand its training capabilities to more students, told ATC Executive Director Larry Witherspoon Jr.

“I thank Automotive Training Center Co-Founder and Executive Director Larry Witherspoon Jr. for bringing this proposal to my office and for his leadership,” stated Senator Ossoff.
