Aug. 5, 2020—Chinese electric vehicle and parts manufacturer is bringing two of the cheapest EVs to the U.S. Two models, both priced under $30,000, will be arriving in Texas before the end of the year.
The first model to hit the U.S. market is the K23, a smaller SUV with a driving range of 180 miles. The objective of bringing these vehicles over is to target the middle class, which has had very few affordable choices in electric vehicles, says Kandi Chairman Xiaoming Hu.
The second model to arrive will be Kandi's compact K27 which has a range of 100 miles. According to Tech Crunch, the K27 starts at just over $20,000 but is eligible for the $7,500 federal income tax credit, which would make it less than $13,000.
Kandi plans to release the models in the Dallas-Fort Worth area where they will be sold by Garland.
