The data from the 2018 Ratchet+Wrench Industry Survey represents a cross-section of shops across the country and provides a glimpse into how the average shop performs, how its leadership manages the shop, and the tech and tools the shop uses.

Over half of all shops report regularly relying upon five or more vendors to supply their parts and components, while less than 10 percent report only using one or two vendors. Dealerships make up a small portion of respondents’ parts sales, accounting for less than a quarter of all estimated parts sales. Wholesale distributors account for over almost 75 percent of all respondents’ sales.

Exactly 50 percent of respondents indicated that none of their parts come from big-box stores, suggesting a very simple truth: distributors comprise the lion’s share of parts sales nationwide, pointing to the ascendance, ease and convenience of online and electronic parts sales.

Ensure your shop commits to accessing the right OEM parts with the correct OEM data. RepairLinkShop.com offers parts illustrations directly from the OEM, so you can buy the correct parts you need from your dealer the first time, every time.
