Tech Republic's survey found that the more people understand AVs, the more comfortable they are with them.
Oct. 5, 2020—A recent report conducted by Tech Republic found that Americans are enthusiastic about the future of autonomous driving.
The report found that 62 percent of the 1,000 respondents surveyed believe autonomous vehicles are the way of the future. The results of the survey also found that the knowledge gap surrounding autonomous vehicles is directly correlated to the level of safety the respondents said they would feel in an autonomous vehicle.
Those who considered themselves extremely knowledgeable in AVs were more likely to test drive one, whereas those without much AV expertise were more hesitant. The results are unsurprising for most, but outline where there is still work to be done in order to get the public's trust when it comes to autonomous vehicles.
