Auto Repair Shop Fined, Violating Probationary Agreement

The auto repair shop was fined for violating probationary requirements, failing to meet mechanic certification requirements, issuing improper invoices, performing unauthorized repairs, and failing to provide written estimates to customers.
August 6, 2019—The Michigan Department of State has fined the owner of Jack’s Auto Repair Inc. in Saginaw, Mich., for violating terms of an 18-month probationary agreement, reports WNEM 5.
Yacoub Alyateem Khury was fined for violating probationary requirements, failing to meet mechanic certification requirements, issuing improper invoices, performing unauthorized repairs, and failing to provide written estimates to customers, the Michigan Department of State said.
An inspection took place on May 3 and was followed by a customer complaint concerning an unauthorized charge for a brake-line job.
The auto repair shop was originally placed on probation back in 2018 for letting a mechanic with an expired less continue work, the Department of State said.
The shop owner agreed to close his shop between July 29 and Aug. 2 while remaining on probation for another six months, and is ordered to pay $1,000 in fines.
