July 18, 2019—The Trump Administration is delaying its plan to ease the Obama-era automobile efficiency requirements to September, reports Bloomberg.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Environmental Protection Agency proposed last August new standards in tailpipe carbon dioxide emission and fuel economy standards. These standards recommend the emissions be capped at 37 miles per gallon starting in 2020, instead of 47 miles per gallon under the Obama Administration’s plan.
The NHTSA and EPA also proposed reversing California’s authority to set its own tailpipe greenhouse gas rules.
