Texas Shop Hosts Free Catalytic Converter Event

July 22, 2022

Dave's Kyle Auto and Diesel Repair partnered with local police and Kyle Citizens on Patrol to etch the license plate numbers onto catalytic converters.

July 22, 2022—A repair shop in Texas recently hosted a free catalytic converter etching clinic in order to help deter theft in its community.

According to Hays Free Press, Dave's Kyle Auto and Diesel Repair partnered with the local police department and Kyle Citizens on Patrol to etch the license plate numbers of vehicles onto their catalytic converters.

Owner David Duarte told the Hays Free Press that his shop was able to service 55 vehicles at the event. Kyle, Texas, has reported 13 catalytic converter thefts in the community so far this year.

The shop also offered snow cones and food from a food truck to those who attended the event, which was held on July 16. Duarte is hopeful that the added security measure of etching will help to dissuade future theft attempts.
