Aug. 28, 2020—A trade organization that represents FCA, Ford and General Motors released a report emphasizing their importance to the U.S. economy.
According to a press release, the report, titled "State of the U.S. Automotive Industry," touts the companies' manufacturing and sales impacts. The organization says that key statistics include that the three largest U.S. automakers run three out of five U.S. auto assembly plants, produce 5.8 million vehicles (2018) and export close to 1 million U.S.-made vehicles to 100 foreign markets.
The report also touches on job creation and research and development functions of the companies.
