This year has been exhausting.
Whether you were one of the lucky shops to experience a surprise boom in business or this last year has left you scrambling to pivot like never before, 2020 has presented a never-ending series of questions and challenges to keep everyone on their toes and their wheels spinning.
It should come as no surprise then that a year filled with stress and limits tested has set the stage for a different kind of epidemic—burnout.
In 2019, the World Health Organization actually classified the problem as a medical diagnosis "resulting from chronic workplace stress that has not been successfully managed," and as business owners, shop operators are probably more familiar with the concept than most. But what exactly does burnout look like and how an you prevent it or overcome it once you've finally hit a wall?
