June 11, 2021—A new study has found that Tesla maintains an overwhelming majority of EVs currently on the road.
Over the last three years, Tesla’s Model X, Model S and Model 3 accounted for 74 percent of all EV sales, according to a study done by BuyAutoInsurance, a third-party insurance education resource. The study found that the Model 3 on its own accounts for 50.6 percent of the EV market.
Both the Model S and Model X accounted for 11.5 percent of the market share. The Chevy Bolt was the most popular non-Tesla model, accounting for 9.8 percent of the market share. Rounding out the top five was the Nissan Leaf which accounted for 6.5 percent of the market.
