Auto-Service-Bidding Site Openbay Launches Nationwide

Oct. 30, 2013—Openbay, an online service that allows consumers to find, book and pay for local auto repair and maintenance services, launched nationwide on Monday, the company announced via press release.

A recent test run of the site in the Boston metropolitan area showed signs of success with more than 600 vehicles owners used the site and nearly 400 shops actively participating in the member network, the company said. This led investors, including Google Ventures, a16z seed, Boston Seed Capital and Stage 1 Ventures to launch the site across the country.

After users submit their automotive service request on Openbay, shops then place bids on the service, giving the customer the power to compare price, location, customer reviews and amenities such as early drop off or loaner cars. Users can then book their appointment and pay for the services through Openbay’s secure website or mobile app at no additional fee.
