Honda Lab Announces New Company

The Honda Silicon Valley lab has announced a new company within Honda R&D. 

April 13, 2017—Honda Silicon Valley Lab, the global innovation hub within Honda R&D, will expand its areas of focus to develop new partnerships as a new company, which will be known as Honda Innovations.

The new company will seek collaborations within all areas of Honda’s activities. The areas of focus will include connected vehicle services, human machine interface, machine intelligence/robotics, connected services and personal mobility. Additionally, Honda Innovations will facilitate discussions on technical collaboration with Waymo to integrate its self-driving technology with vehicles from Honda.

“We’re witnessing a convergence of technologies that will transform mobility, create new business opportunities, and change the way we manufacture products,” said Nick Sugimoto, Honda Innovations, CEO. “By looking broadly across technology areas and partnering with innovators across the globe, we can create products and services that enhance the lives of our customers.”
