July 3, 2019—California has the highest car expenses in the country, according to the online auto repair app, YourMechanic.com, reports The Mercury News.
The app, which books mechanic house calls for car servicing, ran a report with data from five separate sources in order to rank states by categories of gas prices, insurance premiums, repair costs, mileage, and vehicle property tax.
California won for the highest gas prices, averaging $4.10 per gallon, 17 cents higher than second-place Hawaii. Louisiana has the cheapest gas, with regular gas costing $2.39 per gallon.
When it comes to the rest of the categories, California didn’t come out on top but still ranks in the top five, besides mileage.
