Nov. 9, 2017—Following the Kobe Steel scandal, Toyota found has that there was no impact on its vehicles, according to an article by The Drive.
The investigation into Kobe Steel has led many automakers to question whether the materials used in vehicles the company created would pose a safety issue for customers. More than 688 million vehicles would be impacted by Kobe Steel's falsification of data.
Toyota released the results to its internal investigation into the matter and found that vehicle quality and performance met its own standards.
Specifically, the team looked at materials which included aluminum plates, copper tubes, steel wires, cladding, extrusions, steel powder, and sputtering target materials.
They separated their data based on whether the materials were directly purchased from the producer or purchased via a supplier.
Looking for an impact on vehicles related to materials purchased from Kobe Steel in Japan and outside of Japan, the automaker again found no problems.
