April 8, 2014—Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear announced plans on Monday to create the Kentucky Automotive Industry Association.
In a news release, Beshear said the association aims to bring together Kentucky auto manufacturers, suppliers and supporting entities.
According to Beshear’s office, more than 460 automotive-related businesses exist in the state of Kentucky.
“The goal of the Kentucky Automotive Industry Association is to create a unified voice for an industry sector that is profoundly important to our state’s economic health and growth,” Beshear said. “The association will play a vital role in addressing the challenges, solutions and opportunities facing the industry. It will also allow us to highlight successes and elevate the state’s contributions to the global automotive industry.”
Beshear said the association will focus on branding, advocacy and leadership by creating collaborative partnerships to advance the industry.
A 12-member board of directors will develop the association, which Beshear said is not a government agency.
