Tenneco Expands Parts Lineup to Meet New Emission Requirements

Nov. 5, 2013

Nov. 5, 2013Tenneco Inc. announced Friday that it has doubled the size of its Walker CalCat lines of converters to address increasing emissions requirements.

Among the new parts Tenneco has introduced this year are hundreds of additional CalCat and Ultra converters, which are engineered to help automotive service providers restore emissions performance on a variety of late-model domestic and foreign nameplate passenger vehicles. The new parts comply with California Air Resources Board (CARB) standards, as well as the latest emissions requirements in New York.

Effective June 1, 2013, it became illegal to install, sell, offer for sale, or advertise a new aftermarket catalytic converter on certain vehicles in New York unless the converter complies with CARB requirements.

As a result of the new law, when a vehicle is brought in to a New York shop for an emissions repair, the service provider needs to determine the vehicle’s model year and whether it is California or 50-state emissions certified.

To help ensure compliance, Tenneco has also release_notesd free educational materials for identifying a vehicle’s emissions certifications.
