Jan. 13, 2016—Tesla CEO Elon Musk says that it’s an “open secret” that Apple is making an electric car, according to a report by the BBC.
Apple has not formally announced that it is working on an electric vehicle, but Musk says that it’s obvious.
"It's pretty hard to hide something if you hire over a thousand engineers to do it," he said in the BBC interview.
Musk says that Tesla is not threatened by Apple, and that it will expand the industry.
When talking with the BBC, Musk said that he believes it’s just a matter of time before all cars have autonomous features and that driving will become a hobby rather than a necessity.
