May 4, 2016—Ford is readying a new 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine and a 10-speed automatic transmission for the 2017 F-150 to help improve fuel economy, according to Automotive News.
The new, second generation 3.5-liter twin turbo V6 engine produces 365 hp and 450 pounds-feet of torque. The new 10-speed transmission was designed in a joint venture with General Motors. Both the engine and transmission are lighter and have less internal friction, improving efficiency.
The new engine and transmission will be available this fall on the 2017 F-150 Raptor and regular F-150s ordered with the 3.5-liter engine.
