Utah automotive teacher hailed as one of the nation's best instructors.

Dec. 1, 2022—A Utah teacher is being honored for leading the “top shop” in the nation. Adam Arndt’s automotive class at Bonneville High School in the Weber School District took home the honor at a recent event held in Las Vegas, according to Fox 13 Salt Lake City.

“The actual trades, we teach it,” Mr. Arndt told the news station. “We have 42 projects in our shop right now and I have the students manage them. They tell me what to do.”

His class aims to prepare students for entry-level jobs upon graduation. One student, a senior named Nathan Brauer, says he’s earned multiple certifications already.

“I have a bunch of certifications just from the classes he offers,” said Brauer. “I know how to do tires, take engines apart – just loads of stuff.”

Arndt not only teaches the hands-on aspects of being in the shop but how to manage and run a shop, as well.

“Things we learn here are just confidence, basic business management,” Arndt said. “Kids are still excited about what they are doing.”
