Nov. 16, 2022—The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence has announced the introduction of a remote testing option for ASE recertification tests, according to a press release.

This option is made possible through a partnership between ASE and Prometric. As a result, ASE will offer ProProctor remote testing as a choice for individuals interested in becoming recertified. This remote option is being made available as an optional route. In-person testing will still be available as well.

Regardless of the choice to take the test in-person or remotely, the screen experience and the test driver will be the same. The remote testing option will still require a check-in and screening process that is similar to the one conducted at an in-person testing center.

The individual taking the remote test will need to do some preparation ahead of time that includes downloading the ProProctor application to a computer, completing a system check the day before the testing and finding a room that meets Prometric’s requirements of a controlled environment.
