Thousands of Dollars Stolen from Texas Shop

A cash box and safe were stolen from Stiles Automotive in Mesquite, Texas.

Sept. 7, 2022—A shop owner in Texas was recently hit with a significant burglary.   

According to Fox 4, money was stolen from Stiles Automotive in Mesquite, Texas. The theft happened last Wednesday, and it was recorded on a surveillance camera at the shop. 

At the time of this reporting, police are actively investigating the crime. Shop owner Jorge Cortes told Fox 4 that a stolen safe, combined with a stolen cash box, contained tens of thousands of dollars. 

The surveillance footage recorded two individuals in hoods with a white truck around 5 a.m. on Aug. 31. Alarms went off as the suspects ultimately made off with the safe and cash box. Once Cortes was alerted of this incident, he went to the shop and realized the damage had been done. 

Cortes told Fox 4 he had been saving money for shop renovations as well as personal needs for his family. The shop opened back up the Tuesday after Labor Day to continue serving the community.
