Aug. 3, 2022—Brian's North End Auto of Burlington, Vermont, has a program that gives free automotive repairs to members of the community.
According to WCAX, this is the second year that the program has taken place. It initially took shape due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The ability to give back to people that, yes, are low income but it doesn’t necessarily have to be low income, you could just be having a bad financial spot,” said shop owner Brian Moegelin to WCAX.
Over $6,000 was donated to those in need last year for the program. Cesar Rodriguez said that the program helped him visit his mother in the hospital because it gave him extra money in his pocket to pay for the gas he needed to travel.
People are able to nominate those in need of auto repairs by placing a name in a bucket at the shop. Moegelin selects winners at the end of the month.
“I know the community, I know the people that come in and out of here. They trust me, I trust them. You know, having good business is supporting the community that supports you,” Moegelin said.
