ASE Instructor Training Conference Addresses Industry-Wide Issues
July 26, 2022—The recent ASE Instructor Training Conference, hosted by the ASE Education Foundation, was held for high school and college level instructors from automotive, truck, and collision repair programs from all across the country.
According to a press release, over 500 people attended the conference, which had over 100 technical-update training sessions from 60 industry partners. Many topics were covered, including ADAS, electric vehicles, strategies for teaching, and more.
There was also a panel held about "The 2 Percent Solution", which discussed the phenomenon of women making up 50 percent of the workforce but only two percent of automotive service technician roles. The conversation worked to establish ideas on how to make industry workplaces more welcoming to everyone.
“We had a tremendous conference with some open and frank dialogues on how to improve our great industry,” said Mike Coley, president, ASE Education Foundation via the press release. “The one thing everyone attending the conference had in common was the shared goal of finding ways to increase the number of students entering our training programs, providing them with a great education and making sure they want to make the automotive field their career. The conference was held on July 12 through July 15, 2022 in Frisco, Texas.
