Lang Report: Record Number of Cars Per Bay

July 21, 2022

A new Lang Report outlines an increase of vehicles per service bay across the United States.

July 21, 2022—A record-high number of cars and light trucks per service bay was hit in 2021, according to a new Lang Report.

The report showed an increase in the vehicle population by 11 percent from 2016 to 2021. However, the number of cars and light truck service bays went down by four percent.

Between 2016 and 2021, service bays fell by more than 45,000. COVID-19 impacted these closures, especially in the years 2020 and 2021. The amount of cars and light trucks per service bay went up from 225 to 246 from 2016 to 2020.

In 2021, this amount grew by 11 percent compared to 2016, resulting in a record-level high.

Lang Marketing predicts that the number of vehicles per service bay will increase by an additional 10 percent by 2025.
