Study: EV Demand Rising

April 15, 2021
A new survey from CarGurus has found that willingness to purchase EVs has doubled since 2018.

April 15, 2021—A new survey has found consumers are becoming more and more likely to purchase an electric vehicle in the next five years, according to a press release.

CarGurus, an online automotive marketplace, conducted a survey of automobile owners in the U.S. and found that 30 percent of respondents said they were probably or definitely going to buy an electric vehicle in the next five years, doubling the interest from a similar survey in 2018.

The likelihood of buying an EV increased even more based on how much gas prices rose. Twenty-six percent of respondents said they would be much more likely to purchase an EV if prices ever rose to $4.00, and 57 percent said they’d be likely to purchase one if gas ever rose to $5.00.
