April 2, 2021—Small businesses added 174,000 jobs in March, a positive signal that the economy is starting to pick up, Small Biz Trends reported.
According to a monthly ADP Small businesses report, very small businesses, classified as businesses with less than 19 employees, accounted for a majority of the rise with the addition of 100,000 jobs.
Most of the increase came as the service sector, which includes the automotive industry, continued to see growth.
Overall, the U.S. saw its largest increase in jobs than at any point over the previous five months. Counting all private-sector businesses, more than 500,000 jobs were added in March.
